HYPE? WARNING THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT

HYPE? WARNING THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT
Is there a relationship between the latest rude boy Grime acts, shoot ‘em up video games and youth violence?

To find out we’ve booked a cinema screen a PS3 and some scientists and come up with a brand new event, HYPE?

On 19th August we’re inviting 60 , 16 – 24’s down to Rich Mix cinema in Bethnal Green to play a PS3 on the big screen, have a rave with music courtesy of DV8 and let us get them hyped up. We’ll be conducting research to measure our crowd’s decision making before and afterwards and hosting a debate with the help of Alex Rose ( Battlefront / STOP )
http://2008.battlefront.co.uk/campaign/stop-gun-and-knife-crime/

Billie Fisher 17, from South London is the brains behind the event “No one is talking to us about knife crime in school or at home but it’s on the news all the time and there are tv program and films being made about it. At my school it’s getting out of hand now with people talking about shanking each other for petty arguments and everybody is using language they pick up form media, videos and tv shows and copying people they see on TV. I just want everyone to stop and think”
Billie : billiefisher@live.co.uk

Want to help us with the research? Keen to put on a lab coat?
Want to be one of our guinea pigs and join the debate?
Maybe you’ve been affected by knife crime and want to have your say?

In the Pod

Gang, Gun and Knife Crime (In the Pod)

As part of the Peer Education Program at New Horizon Youth Centre, young people have produced a short film, interviewing one hundred people including their peers, ex gang members and members of the local community. The results of these interviews were made into our short film....'In the Pod'

We have developed a workshop to accompany this film which can be delivered to up to 30 students aged 11+. The workshop was designed to not only raise awareness of gangs, knives and gun crime, but also to spark debate amongst young people and find solutions that will stop young people killing each other. We have a trailer for this film on our YouTube channel. You can watch this at;
